Mayen, 24.11.2017 - MOLTEX Baby-Hygiene GmbH, based in Mayen (Rhineland-Palatinate), received the “GREEN BRANDS” award in the Products category for MOLTEX nature no.1, and was honoured as “GREEN BRAND 2017/2018 Germany” by an independent jury for the third time in succession since 2013. MOLTEX is entitled to display the seal of quality for two more years. With the award, GREEN BRANDS honours the commitment of the winning brands to climate protection, sustainability and responsible environmental policy. A total of 38 brands were honoured as “GREEN BTANDS GERMANY” at the award ceremony held at the Senckenberg Naturmuseum in Frankfurt on 13.11.2017. The well-known actor and environmental protection advocate Hannes Jaenicke received the award as the “2017 GREEN BRAND Germany personality of the year”.

“We are very pleased to receive this award, which we view as further affirmation of our progressive development as a sustainable brand. That is the achievement of a terrific team that has consciously devoted itself to this strategic approach and pursued it with great pleasure”, noted Christian Freund, MOLTEX International Sales and Marketing Manager.

The selection and evaluation process
The international GREEN BRANDS Organisation GmbH has been awarding its seal of quality to firms, products and brands that are demonstrably more ecologically sustainable than comparable candidates in the same category. The criteria for the award include evidence of environmentally friendly production and respect for the fundamental necessities of life, the balance of nature and the environmental aspect of sustainability.

A convincing product concept: MOLTEX nature no.1
The brand position of MOLTEX nature no.1 is based on functionality, innovative drive and environmental compatibility. Consistent emphasis is placed in production on resource conservation and environmentally compatible processes and management. The quality assurance process guided by ecological principles is always given the highest priority. One challenge posed in this context is the need for continuous monitoring of production and products for the purpose of assessing environmental effects and ensuring constant compliance with the most recent applicable standards. Focal points include savings on material consumption, optimal use of energy, waste management and the reduction of emissions from transport and logistical operations. Attention is also paid to the use of organic raw materials; thus MOLTEX nature no.1 is produced from 40- to 50-percent renewable raw materials and has a totally chlorine-free absorptive core (TCF) that binds odours with tealeaf extract. The fully breathable protective film safeguards sensitive baby skin. MOLTEX nature no.1 contains no latex or fragrances and displays the “Original DERMATEST®” seal: very good. MOLTEX also contains cellulose from sustainable forestry operations. The company emphasizes the importance of heightening and demonstrating awareness of sustainability principles – a process that continually requires that new steps be taken.
MOLTEX nature no.1 has been produced with green electrical power since 2015. This helps conserve natural resources and supports the use of regenerative energy sources.

Progressive strategic development and focus on the future in 2018
With an innovative Internet presence MOLTEX plans to pursue further development of the brand and its product features in 2018. These efforts will be supported through communication via a new, dynamic and innovative website. Information on product features, news, progress in sustainability, handcrafting tips as well as cuddling and crawling games are presented in an appealing manner at the new website.

The new bear design
The traditional firm has also decided to display its own brand mascot on these nappies in order to focus greater attention on issues of relevance to MOLTEX. Thus the PEANUTS figures are now being replaced by the image of a cheerful, adventurous little bear.
The bear is also a fitting motif when it comes to bringing nature closer to children. A close relationship with nature and respect for nature and its resources are a major focus of attention at MOLTEX Baby-Hygiene GmbH. Life in the wild is becoming increasingly difficult for bears. Because their original habitats are gradually being destroyed by large-scale deforestation, many bears now live in nature preserves and national parks, where they are protected by law. Bears have always been part of childhood fantasy worlds thanks to stories, fairy tales and – not least of all – the beloved, cuddly plush teddy that still has a place as a comforting friend and patient listener in children’s bedrooms!
